The Quilter’s Cottage is our
newest addition to Mill Wheel on the Nueces. I think it is the most
charming with two porches, a high peaked roof and an upstairs bedroom! Some
of the appeal is found in the furnishings - antique iron beds with quilts
and vintage drapes, an old hoosier cabinet, an antique armoire and wicker
furniture scattered about!
As with all of our
accommodations, the Quilter’s Cottage is equipped with central air and heat
to insure that our guests are comfortable in any weather.
As you enter the living, dining,
kitchen area from either of the two porches you will immediately begin to
experience the old fashioned charm of this place. The old round oak table
under a beautiful chandelier and the antique hoosier in the kitchen/dining
area look right at home in this new/old house!
The kitchen has top of the line
appliances including an electric stove, a full refrigerator with ice maker,
a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, electric can opener and is outfitted with
pots and pans, bowls, dishes, glasses and silverware.
The living area has a couch with
two end tables, lamps and a coffee table. The television has a built in
DVD and Video player and Direct TV is provided here as well as upstairs.

The downstairs bedroom is
carpeted and large enough to accommodate two double beds, an antique
armoire, a small desk under the staircase, a wicker chair and lamps for
reading, with a full bath adjoining.
Upstairs the carpeted bedroom is
long and narrow, running the length of the house. It has a little powder
room with a pedestal lavatory and commode and windows with lace valances in
each end of the room. This room has two double beds and one twin bed with
nightstands and lamps, a chair and side table and a small television.
Outside there is a small patio
with a barbeque grill and picnic table under the shaded oak trees for your
grilling pleasure. Choose one of the two porches for just the very nicest
place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or tea and in the evening to
experience one of our beautiful sunsets.
A short walk will take you to the
picnic area overlooking the beautiful Nueces river. The river is deep and
clear. Summer finds the river just the right temperature to enjoy a good
swim - not too cold, just right!
We would love to have you come
and stay with us in the Quilter’s Cottage and you don’t even have to be a
quilter! Linens are furnished so grab your toothbrush and river towels and
come enjoy our little part of the world in the beautiful Nueces Canyon.
The Quilter’s Cottage is $225.00
per night and will sleep up to nine people.
